Encountering Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes on the way to ballet class was not what expected when I woke up this morning. Taking my daughter to her first Nutcracker performance, I noticed (okay, it’s hard not too notice) a ton of paparazzi outside this rather non- descript building. I whizzed by them since my purpose was to drop her off. Luckily, I forgot my ticket so I had to go back home to retrieve them.
When I returned, the papps were still there waiting. Since I had time before the performance, why not see who they were all waiting for and lo and behold, it was Tom Cruise. So I waited with the other stragglers and photographers. Finally, after 20 minutes (no mind you the photographers had been waiting at least an hour), they came out.
They did not stop or pose but walked quickly into their waiting tinted-window black SUV. Of course, they ran after the car.
There a few things I find funny about this entire incident. 1) The building they came from. Now mind you I have no idea what it looks like inside the apartments or do they own it or are they renting. But the street that the building is on is so boring, dull and dreary, you can’t imagine any celebrities living on it. It sits on a block with a fire station, a funky coffee shop, a run-down deli and a NYU dorm. The lobby is nothing to write home about. I have seen better lobbies in rentals.
2) How did the photogs know they were coming out? You be the guess of that one.
3) The creepy guy with photos for them to sign and I mean creepy. What list is on to know they were coming out?
As I was telling another mom the story, she was told me they have been there for awhile because she ran into Katie and Suri and Suri said her daughter was cute.
So now I will be on the lookout for them or the tell tale sign the black SUV, everytime I go to dance class

Tom has lived in that building since the 80’s…Cher used to live there as well (think they lived together there). The apartments are nice there…lofts mostly.
Thanks for the inside view. We all figured it has to be nice inside. just so boring outside. Well if he bought in the 80s, I can only imagine how much it has appreciated since he bought it.
