Wollman Rink Unveils 45+ Free Summer Events in Central Park

 

Wollman Rink’s 75th-anniversary celebration continues this spring and summer with more than 45 free community events kicking off this week, bringing year-round, family-friendly fun to the iconic Central Park destination. Alongside CityPickle’s seasonal pickleball residency, visitors can enjoy everything from outdoor movie nights and live music to dance classes, youth fitness, kids programming and free ice cream on the Overlook – all in the heart of NYC.

The highlights:

• Thursday Movie Nights on the Overlook – Guests can enjoy classic, family-friendly films under the stars on a large outdoor screen, creating a timeless movie-in-the-park experience in Central Park. This season’s lineup includes Zootopia 2 on May 21, Hamilton on June 4, Wicked: for Good on June 18, and Captain America: Brave New World on July 2—with more films for the rest of the season to be announced shortly. Takes place every other Thursday at dusk.

• Sundaes on the Overlook – A signature family activation series featuring interactive entertainment such as the Bubble Bus and performances by Magic Dave. Mikey Likes It Ice Cream, a New York-based brand founded by Michael Cole, joins as the official ice cream sponsor of Sundaes on the Overlook, providing free scoops for families while supplies last. Takes place every other Sunday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

• Sounds of Summer Concert Series -Live music performances, including high-energy 80s tribute bands and orchestral showcases like the Bob Larro Orchestra and Two2Many. Special performances by The M80s on June 16 and August 25.

 

• Arthur Murray Broadway Dance Studio Experiences – Engaging dance sessions inviting park-goers to learn new moves and experience the joy of dance in an open environment. Takes place on select Saturdays, May through September, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

• My Gym Children’s Programming – Interactive classes focused on movement, teamwork, and confidence-building for children of all ages, featuring games, relays, and gymnastics activities. Takes place every other Tuesday and Friday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

• Modern Marionette Performances – Creative puppet shows by the Modern Marionette Company, blending storytelling, artistry, and imagination for audiences of all ages. Special events on May 19 and September 28.

• Community & Specialty Eventsp Additional highlights include pet-focused programming with UrVet Care, themed seasonal events, and large-scale activations such as volleyball, pickleball, and Wimbledon-themed experiences.
