What I love about living New York City is the availability of a truly unique experience that my daughter or I would never experience in the rest of the U.S. Sure, every neighborhood may have a Mr. Softee or Good Humour Ice Cream truck that comes to the neighborhood but do you have ices being sold on the corner? I think not.
Everyday, after school, the icee lady is waiting for the kids right outside their exit door. All the kids line up to buy these wonderfully, tasty ices in an collection of flavors from coconut to mango, all for an outlandish $1.00. Yes, not everything in New York costs and arm and a leg.
What kills me is that the ice cream truck is also there waiting for the kids. I am sure he does a brisk business but if I had a choice between a mango ice versus soft serve ice cream, I am going with the mango icee.

I allow my son 1 of these treats 1 time a week. I see it as a necessary evil, and I don’t want him overly sugared up. On a side note, when he orders the ices type stuff from the ice cream guy I want to scream, “No, get the fattening stuff!” But I keep my big, chubby mouth shut!
You know, I thing when he goes to bed I am going to have an ice cream tonight!
There are less calories involved when no one is watching!
