As the mom of a teenager, shopping for the right mobile phone for my daughter is not only difficult, it is fraught with moody landmines. Teens are picky, didn’t you know?
As a single mom, choosing the right phone is not my only concern, cost is also an important factor. It’s one thing for me to have a new phone because let’s face facts, I am a working mom and I am the breadwinner and I deserve it. But my daughter is another story which is where pre-owned phones come in handy.
There are good reasons for buying a pre-owned phone for your child:
1) A Cost-effective way to test the waters
2) Introduces your child to a device, and
3) Teaches your child the responsibilities of owning their very own phone
All that said, when I had to buy my daughter’s first phone I did not have the option of buying a pre-owned phone from Trademore for the simple reason, Trademore wasn’t around. Boy, I wish they were.
Trademore offers a large variety of popular devices at very competitive prices. And all their devices go through a 30-point functional and cosmetic inspection (for quality, reliability, and functionality) and receive a 100% inspection score.
Selecting a phone is super easy to do. Just visit Trademore to review all the devices they have to offer and the prices for each phone.
Once you purchase your phone, you will receive your phone within 2 days. Easy Peasy Process!!
So, if you are looking to buy a pre-owned phone at competitive prices for your child, visit Trademore to learn more about all the phones they offer.

My kids are not old enough for phones yet. Who know what kind of options will be there by the time they are old enough for a phone?!?! This looks like a good option for those who need it.
NYCSingleMom says
Definitely consider it because I just like that it’s much more affordable than the other cellular companies

I actually traded in my old cell phone with trademore last year and couldn’t believe how money much I was able to get for it. The process trading my phone in was super simple. My son is only 12 months old so he won’t be getting on just yet, but I am definitely keeping them in mind for when someone in the house needs a new phone.

I have yet to use their service to sell but definitely now that I know about it I will be selling my phone through when I upgrade!!

I plan on checking out this company this weekend for Charlie a phone and I may look for one for myself as well since my son dropped mine and cracked it and there is a certain phone I would like to purchase for myself.

The bane of my existence the cracked screen. Good luck!

This is such a great idea! I have never heard about it before, I wonder if they are in Canada.
NYCSingleMom says
I would reach out to confirm but it looks like they only send to physical addresses in the US.

That does look like a great option for a phone! My eldest is 14 so has his own phone but my youngest three are 4, 5 and.6 and not quite ready for a phone yet!
Jeanette says
I think I will be looking into this! My son is just about ready for a phone and I do not want to get him this really expensive phone that he really doesn’t need.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Trademore lately. I think it’s a great service for parents to buy their kids their first phone.
NYCSingleMom says
It would have made life easier buying my daughters first phone!

I love the idea of saving money on a used phone. As long as it goes hrough quality control i am in to get one especially because the kids are so tough on phones.
NYCSingleMom says
Totally agree on the quality control. Why they are so rough on their phones is a mystery to me!

It’s a good idea to start them off with a less expensive option. I have seen many kids with phones completely cracked and all messed up and I sigh-
NYCSingleMom says
Totally agree! Kids here were getting the latest iPhones in the 5th grade!

This seems like a great option. I bought my daughter her first phone and she lost it within a month. I won’t make that same mistake with my son.

I need to save money whenever I can. I have never heard of Trademore before but it is something I need to check out.

Phones are so expensive. My tweleve year old actually needs a new one so I should check it out. I can’t dish out hundreds on phones anymore, not after they keep breaking so easily :/
NYCSingleMom says
That is me!! It’s getting to be a drain financially!

My daughter has been asking for her first cell phone. These are some really great tips. I’m not sure I’m ready to make that jump yet.

I am definitely in the market for a phone for my teen. I am clicking over to the Trademore website right now!
Penny Christensen says
What a practical idea! I have also pinned this for a couple of years down the road in my household.

These are great tips. I really need to check them out because my grandson has been asking and I want to share this with my daughter.

Oh I wish I had known about this 5 months ago! We decided to get my son his first phone on his 12th birthday since he is out and about with friends more, and I need to be able to reach him!
NYCSingleMom says
I wish I had waited until my daughter was 12. But it might work for his second phone. They are not getting any cheaper!
Peachy @ The Peach Kitchen says
My daughter’s first phone is also pre-owned. I think pre-owned is the way to go for our children’s first phones because it’s a lot cheaper.
