Marvel’ s Thor: The Dark World is a thrill ride from start to finish. The second in the series, continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos.
Thor is forced to form an alliance with the treacherous Loki to save not only his people and those he loves…but our universe itself. A fan favorite, Loki played by the devilishly delicious Tom Hiddleston rocks in this movie. Hiddleston really does make this character such a blend of charisma, anger and great lines (kudos to the screenwriters who really make his character so oddly likeable although he is the villain.)
The fight scenes with Thor and his compadres Sif (the rocking Jaimie Alexander), Fandral (charming Zachary Levi) and Hogun (Tadanobu Asano) will make the fan boys (and girls) excited and will not be disappointed. There is something about Thor wielding his mighty hammer. Yes, I admit it as well.
What makes this movie work is a blend of CGI, the wow scenes on earth and Asgard, the cute romance between Jane Foster and Thor and of course, it’s actually is funny in places but that is mostly because Hiddleston brings his best snark to the screen which is why he is such a fan favorite and really makes this movie pop. But kudos to Kat Dennings bringing her own brand of cuteness and funny.
Let me say, that I do like CGI and this movie really is just beautifully made. I am always in awe how much the scenes in Asgard and Earth are so crisp and colorful. It is really is the type of movie that really looks great on the big screen.
All in all, whether you are a Marvel fan or just like a great popcorn movie, Thor: The Dark World will be a thrilling and fun ride.
And here’s a tip, definitely stay to the very end of the movie and mean after the credits, you will not be disappointed.
Last tip, I would recommend if you haven’t done so is to watch in order Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers before Thor: The Dark World. I had not seen the first Thor until recently and Marvel’s The Avengers made so much more sense. That said, Thor: The Dark World does stand on it’s own.
Stay tuned in the new few days for my interviews with the cast including Tom Hiddleston (Loki); Jaimie Alexander (Sif) and Zachary Levi (Fandral.)
THOR: THE DARK WORLD opens in theatres everywhere on November 8th!
