On any given weekend somewhere in the city there is street fair happening. When I first moved to New York City, I thought how cool a Street Fair. What a great way to spend sometime, wandering blocks of local food vendors selling zeppoles, Thai Food and oodles of yummy fare and of course, interesting tchtokes, clothes from around the world. That was then. Now sadly there is nothing unique about them anymore since they all pretty much sell the same things, knock off bags,$5 fake pashiminas, sheets, yes sheets, decorative and bed pillow, bags of tube socks, South American clothes (sweaters in the winter, cheap sundresses in the summer) and so much more. And don’t be surprised by the chair massages.
Now you would think knowing that they are the same, I would avoid them. Wrong, I am like a gambler who is one a few times looking for the next big score. I always walk a few blocks thinking there will be the coolest vendor setting up shop but alas wrong!
Now if you come for a visit and run across a street fair, I would recommend it because hey you never know.

We visited NYC a few years ago and I was fascinated with the stuff you could buy!

New York City is a fantastic place to be 🙂 When a street fair gets a little popular it tents to focus more on mainstream values, unfortunately.
