This week is the mid-winter break for New York area schools and with that comes the dance of the playdates and daily amusements to keep your child from watching television 24 hours a day (and don’t think I haven’t thought how bad could that be.) Don’t get me wrong, I love having quality time with my daughter but nine days with no break for a single mom is not easy.
Twice this week without prompting or asking, two families have offered at the last minute to host my daughter for a sleepover. Trust me, I would have jumped up and screamed “YES, YES” but I don’t think my daughter would have appreciated my response, instead, I was very much “if it’s okay with you, and the girls are fine with it, it’s fine with me.”
I know a lot of kids don’t do sleepovers but my daughter has been doing sleepovers for years especially when I had to travel out of town on business. That said, she loves them because it really is one long play date and who doesn’t love that.
So THANKS to both moms, one of which is Holly at theculturemom.com for hosting my daughter.

That’s great for people to switch around hosting sleep overs. What mom doesn’t want a break every now and then!?

Sleepovers work out well for us and I agree it is nice to switch things up to give everyone some time off.
