Yesterday, my daughter and I wandered into the Skechers store to check out some new spring shoes when I came upon their new line of shoe for girls called “Daddy’$ Money” which included shoes called Gimme Kisses and Gimme Wicked.
I am not even sure if I am offended that they are promoting sexist attitude about who manages the money in the home or promotes a total disregard about money or that parents especially dads are just ATMS. And I guess the big question is would I even allow my daughter to buy them.
Here are the shoes I saw in the store. I actually don’t mind the studded pair but the other ones are just plain vulgar. Plus I admit that regardless of the name of the line, the idea of wedge sneakers is stupid.
What do you think? Is Daddy’s Money offensive to you or it is meh issue? Would you ever buy these sneakers for your tween/teen daughter.

When my fiance and I saw the commercial for these shoes, our jaws dropped. Not only is the dollar sign tacky and not only are they not taking single mothers into consideration but the brand name is inappropriate too. We are an extremely modern family but that crosses the line. It comes off as both sexual and spoiled. Also, my fiance is a physical therapist and was floored at the built in heels because that is so bad for a young child. They’ll be feeling that back pain when they grow up! 🙁
Okay, my rant is over. lol

These are incredibly tacky…talk about mixed messages. How degrading and insulting to everyone in the equation. Disgusting.

WOW! You are not alone. I’m completely appalled. This looks like a freaking’ joke! I will not ever buy these shoes. It’s unfortunate that Skecher makes them because they are one of the only two or three brands I can wear because of my wide feet!

No I would not buy them and I would really be disappointed if my daughter purchased them with her money or with her mine. What an outdated idea to give our young women, Daddy has the money and of course you being his little princess can get it out of him. Also it implies that Mom doesn’t make any money for the household and she doesn’t have any say as to where it is spent. The name insults everyone and I hope the young women can see right though this marketing ploy. You know I have been reading so many negative things in the media concering females that I am beginning to wonder if we do not need another Woman’s Movememnt as we are taking steps backwards in a lot of issues.
