Six new ways to enjoy the High Line in 2026

January 13, 2026 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Travel

1. A new garden will make its debut at the northernmost end of the park.
Thought you’ve seen all of the High Line’s horticultural gems? Think again. The new 34th Street garden, designed by Field Operations and the iconic High Line garden designer Piet Oudolf, will open in late 2026, in tandem with updates to the Western Rail Yards section of the park! It’ll be a joy to welcome a new selection of horticultural delights to the northernmost end of the park.

2. Friends of the High Line will be holding our first plant sale.
For the first time ever, parkgoers will be able to bring a piece of the High Line’s extraordinary naturalistic gardens home with them. This upcoming sale will be open to the general public and will feature plants propagated on-site by our horticulture team.

3. Something musical this way comes!
This summer, Friends of the High Line will be presenting some of New York’s finest musicians for a series of free live performances.

4. The Highline is introducing regularly scheduled Spanish and Mandarin language tours of the High Line.
After a successful pilot program in 2025, Friends of the High Line will begin offering Spanish-language and Mandarin-language versions of our From Freight to Flowers tours. All tours will be free and open to members of the public.

5. Prepare for another year of free and engaging Artist Talks.
Throughout the year,  artists behind this year’s exciting and transformative High Line Art commissions onto the park for Artist Talks! Free and accessible to the public, these conversations offer an in-depth look at how High Line Art brings to life a 1.5+ mile museum in the sky. Future events include upcoming conversations with Kameelah Janan Rasheed and Raven Halfmoon.

6. A new beacon of light will shine on the Spur.
Say good-bye to Iván Argote’s beloved Dinosaur. There is much  anticipation for the arrival of the fifth Plinth commission, Tuan Andrew Nguyen’s The Light That Shines Through the Universe, this spring! Paying homage to the 6th-century Bamiyan Buddhas of central Afghanistan, Nguyen reimagines one of the two colossal statues that were tragically destroyed in 2001 by the Taliban in an act of iconoclasm.
