Earlier this year, Disneyland banned taking selfie sticks on rides, posting signs at all the rides. So what if they posted signs, people ignored the signs. So this week, Disney World and Disneyland made it official. NO MORE SELFIE STICKS ALLOWED AT DISNEY WORLD AND DISNEYLAND. Yes, no more selfie sticks, the horror. I, for one am super happy that the Happiest Place on Earth has banned them.
3 Reasons Why I am Happy They Banned Selfie Sticks at Disneyland and Disney World
1. Avoid being hit by a flying selfie stick or phone on the rides.
2. Actually have to talk to people and ask them to take our picture. And we can both be in the picture.
3. Avoid sarcastic comments from my 12 year old who hates it when I take out the selfie stick to take our photo.
And if you want to avoid talking to people, you can pay extra for Memory Maker and have Disney photographers take your picture. Plus, you will be able get pictures on the rides. Yes, it costs more but it’s worth every penny – you will be in the moment, rather than a slave to your selfie stick.
As someone who has traveled to London (check out my post on Buckingham Palace), Paris and has taken multiple vacations to Florida’s Disney and Universal Studios, I find it easier not having a selfie stick. It’s just something else to carry and distract me from the sites.
What are your thoughts about the ban of selfie sticks? Do you think it is a good idea or will you miss carrying it around with you at Disney? Let us know in the comments.

I see both good and bad sides of this. I definitely can see banning them on rides, but if someone is stupid enough to use one on a ride they deserve to be hit by it…lol Looking through our photos we have very few of me and my husband and our selfie pics are horrible. So we thought a selfie stick might help. We are shy, so asking someone is hard sometimes, especially when you know their time is valuable too. Also we go from place to place to place when we travel, we are very fast paced and it is hard to track someone down to take our photo. Also some of the places we go are secluded – no one to ask to take a pic of us. At Disney I can see the ban being a somewhat good thing, but in real life, it wouldn’t work.
