Roy Lichtenstein Times Square Mural is a mural that I have literally seen hundreds of times as I have passed through the Times Square subway station but never noticed. Most times of the day, it’s a madhouse given that the stop is the intersection of several trains so people are either running to or transferring to their trains.
Recently, I had to run an errand in Times Square and actually took the time to actually stop and look at the mural with its’ Lichtenstein’s trademarked comic strip style. It’s quite beautiful, and really bright in that underground tunnel especially when there isn’t a din of noise and hundreds of people almost knocking you over.
If you take the N, Q, R 42nd St S, 1, 2, 3, 7 to the 42nd St–Times Square stop a moment to actually look at the artwork. It may be noisy or crowded but you will be happy to have found beauty in a place you least expected.

It really is a great piece. I love the way subway art can perk up what would otherwise be a very dismal space.

That is cool. Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the flowers.
