Relaxation Tips and The Importance of Treating Yourself
Finding Relaxation Tips are important to me as a single parent. One of my favorite relaxation tips is just taking a break for a weekend. I mean there is nothing more truly delicious and freeing as waking up in a beautiful hotel room without having to make breakfast for my daughter.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my daughter with all my heart. But let’s face facts, children are draining. The minute they wake up they want something to eat or asking about this that and the other.
It really is an indulgence to wake up when you want, lie in bed, stare at the television and do nothing. Absolutely nothing…
And this is where I found myself on a press trip to the Mount Airy Casino Resort. Ordinarily, press events like this only allow for one person but I was allowed to invite a guest. All the other bloggers I know of course came with their spouses. In fact, I did try to invite friends to enjoy a fun-filled girl’s weekend but no one was able to go. I even tried to get them to invite another single mom blogger but that did not work out either.
In the end, I was actually happy because it meant I didn’t have to share a room. I could watch whatever I want when I want, go to sleep when I wanted, snore without bother another person, and just think about nothing. I enjoyed ordering room service without any interruptions and actually read a newspaper while I eating my breakfast and having my coffee in peace.
ALONE TIME
As a single mom, I just think it’s important to have alone time and treat yourself. I refuse to feel guilty that I just want no responsibilities for a couple of days. In my opinion, we moms and dads need to step away and take time to recharge our batteries. Parenting is a marathon and I know that but every once in while it helps to just be alone and do nothing.
HAVING A LAUGH
And I have to indulge in taking ridiculous photos on trips and just in general!! Having a laugh is important to keeping one’s sanity, right!!
TREATING ONESELF TO A SPA TREATMENT
During the weekend, I was lucky enough to fit in a massage. How wonderful!! I need to do more to treat myself to those types of indulgences even if I just get away for manicure/pedicure.
How do you treat yourself to keep going as a parent?
Would love to hear your thoughts!! Trust me, I am always looking for relaxation tips and on how to step away if only for a short time.
