What I love about New York City is that you never know when a photo opp will present itself. Unfortunately, dragging my big camera around every day is not an option and as much as I love my iPhone, it doesn’t always do the trick.
So I was excited to try out the RCA Small Wonder High-Definition Digital Camcorder (EZ2000RD) to see how it fit my picture taking lifestyle. I must admit that I had no idea that RCA was even still in existence, let alone made digital recorders. I digress.
The RCA Small Wonder HD Digital Camcorder offers 720 high-definition video recording, ease of use going from video recorder to taking photos and has the capability to upload to YouTube, Facebook, Flickr and Vimeo.
What I liked about RCA Small Wonder HD Digital Camcorder:
- Ability to aim, press and record video then stop aim, press and take pictures. For me, this is huge. I am always having to manually move the dial from shooting pictures to video on my current camera and on the iPhone. It really is a matter of pushing the record button or the picture button and finito.
- Lightweight and slim design – I was a little freaked out at how light the camera is because I am used to the heaviness of point and shoot cameras but I got used to it.
- Quality of the videos is amazing and it is able to take up to 8 hours of video.
- Expandable memory which can be increased to 16GB of recording memory, not that you need it but hey it’s better to be able to have it than not.
What I did not like about the RCA Small HD Digital Camcorder:
- The quick start guide – This seems to be the new thing for companies, producing streamlined instructions that eliminates necessary details to get you up and running.
- For instance – The guide instructs you to “install” memory manager so you can download pictures but the instructions fail to mention that you actually have to download the the Memory Manager software from the RCA website. Mind you, it was simple and quick to do but I was somewhat dumbfounded for a few minutes tearing through the box looking for a software disk.
- The quick start guide also doesn’t tell you that there is a longer more detailed instructions booklet available online which was helpful for goofballs like me.
The set up was a minor inconvenience since the videos and photos are very good quality. So don’t miss out on those moments that can’t be recaptured later and consider the RCA Small Wonder digital camera when your in the market for your next digital camcorder.
