There are days that so much is going on, it’s hard to keep up. Recently, I hosted a #DisneySide party with my blog husband Mitch at gaynycdad.com. As you know, planning parties are the not the easiest of task especially if it not at your home.
On the day of our party, it decided to snow during rush hour. Not to worry, right. This is New York, all you have to so is just run out and get a cab. Hah! You trying hailing a cab in snowy weather during rush hour on a busy New York City street. So there we were with our hand held high trying to hail a cab, being snowed upon, standing in the slushy street getting sprayed by cars, all the while holding a cake, cupcakes (imagine us with a cake and cupcake holder) and decorations as the minutes ticked away and slowing freezing. I could feel the stress well up inside me especially since I was also getting texts and emails from Mitch asking where we were.
Finally, we got a cab.
As we headed to Mitch’s house, I asked my daughter feeling relaxed so I thought, “ How are you? and then responded “Good.”
“You didn’t give me a chance to say anything, you just answered the question.” Needless to say, we both laughed.
“Sorry, I am just flustered by the weather and that were were late.”
Who wants to admit to their child that “sorry” that I don’t always react well to focusing on her when I am stressed. Seriously, isn’t it enough I made a cake and cupcakes, put together decorations in one day for this party. Now I have to deal with having an intelligent conversation, too.
Have you ever had a moment where it was barely enough to keep it together and not exactly focused on what your child was saying?
