My daughter and I attended the screening of ONE DIRECTION: THIS IS US. The movie directed by Morgan Spurlock of Super Size Me fame offers up a captivating and intimate all-access look at life on the road for the global music phenomenon.
I will admit that I expected something different given that Morgan Spurlock was the director but I found the movie somewhat formulaic. The movie includes the requisite live concert footage, the origin story of how Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis came to be One Direction, the behind the scenes moments on their world tour, the screaming fans, interview with Simon Cowell and snippets of One Direction’s fans and why they love the band.
That all said, I did enjoy the movie and found the movie somewhat interesting, inspiring and an inspiring feature film. Would I recommend this movie to a non-fan? I doubt it but One Direction fans will love it because the movie is well done. My daughter loved it thoroughly and wants to see it again.
Final note, do not see this movie in 3D. Again it annoys me that this movie is in 3D, there was only one scene that warrants 3D effects.
Don’t miss ONE DIRECTION: THIS IS US opening August 30, 2013
