Octavia Spencer, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Red Carpet premiere of Gifted (starring Chris Evans) has announced that she plans to buy Marvel Studios Black Panther tickets for underserved communities in Mississippi.
I love that she is making the gesture, I think we know how expensive movies can be these days. And if you are not up on the Black Panther news, it is a huge blockbuster movie that Marvel Studios that stars their first black superhero. The pre-ticket sales have blown through the roof. This is not the first time Ms. Spencer has made this type of gesture. She also bought tickets for her star turn in Hidden Figures. Hoping that celebrities that star in the movie will follow her lead!!
Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHERfollows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
