American Museum of Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History is the most popular museum for New Yorkers and tourists alike, appealing to all ages. For years, my daughter went to the museum a few times a year that’s how much she loved it. We have even planned playdates at the museum, been to birthday parties and loved going to all the exhibits like the Butterfly exhibit and now the T-Rex: Predator exhibit. If you visit one museum in New York City make it the American Museum of Natural History and don’t forget it’s the New York museum featured in Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museum.

The American Museum of Natural History most popular exhibits include:
- The Akeley Hall of African Mammals – The four East African elephants in the middle of the hall have been around since the 1920s and still excite visitors every day. The elephants were collected and mounted by Carl Akeley, a multi-faceted man (explorer, conservationist, taxidermist, sculptor, and photographer) who is the original creator of the hall of mammals. Along with the elephants, the 28 dioramas representing African wildlife are vivid reproductions of the worlds that Akeley wanted to preserve.
- The Millstein Hall of Ocean – The exhibit features an amazingly huge 94-foot-long blue whale model that fills the hall along with numerous interactive stations and dioramas.
- Fossils Halls – Part of the Fossils Halls includes two dinosaur halls, probably the most popular hall in the museum and the city. There over one million specimens, which is the world’s largest collection of vertebrate fossils. Close to 85 percent of the more than 600 specimens are real fossils.
The newest exhibit is the T-Rex Predator which will around until August 2020.
