Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Successful and driven, Rebecca Bunch seemingly has it all — an upscale apartment in Manhattan and a partnership at a prestigious law firm — but she feels like something is missing. After a chance meeting with a former romantic interest, Rebecca impulsively decides to give up her life in New York and relocate to West Covina, Calif., a Los Angeles suburb she hopes will be the perfect home base as she embarks on a quest for love, adventure and true happiness. tv.verizon.com/crazy-exgirlfriend
Tracey Ullman Show (HBO)
Acclaimed actress, writer and producer Tracey Ullman, a longtime HBO favorite, returns to the network to front another sketch comedy series. Poking fun at modern life in the U.K., the star celebrates her homeland by taking on the personas of its residents and tourists. Over the course of six episodes, Ullman’s humorous portrayal of celebrities includes the likes of Dame Judi Dench, German chancellor Angela Merkel and Dame Maggie Smith, as well as everyone from a disaster-prone massage therapist to a member of parliament who goes topless for votes will have you laughing through the holiday. tv.verizon.com/tracey-ullmans-show
Real Husbands of Hollywood
Wouldn’t you know, there aren’t only “Real Housewives” parading around reality television. The BET original series “Real Husbands of Hollywood” evens the playing field somewhat — well, not really. The program is actually the “fakest reality show ever,” says BET, a satire that skewers all things “Housewives”-like. It stars Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon, Boris Kodjoe, Duane Martin, J.B. Smoove and Nelly, among others, while episodes feature guest appearances by television, film, music and sport’s top stars including Jay Leno, Ed O’Neill, Shaquille O’Neal, Faizon Love, Common, Trey Songz and Cedric the Entertainer. Now in Season 5. My daughter and I discovered this show when we are traveling in London a few years ago. It is a parody of the Real Housewives series. The actors in the show play riffs on their public personas and is truly funny. Available on Fios On-Demand. tv.verizon.comreal-husbands-of-hollywood
People Of Earth
An ensemble comedy about an alien abductee support group revolves around a journalist’s investigation of the members’ supposed extraterrestrial experiences. As seasoned writer Ozzie Graham delves further into oddball claims made by members of StarCrossed, his initial skepticism begins to turn when he hears their stories firsthand and realizes he might have a story to tell, too. Though Ozzie struggles with the notion that life could exist beyond our world, StarCrossed leader Gina Morrison tries to get him to accept his possible otherworldly experience. The premise may sound all that but give it chance, it’s absurdly funny. The abductees are pretty darn funny but it’s the “aliens” that will have you laughing. Silicon Valley (HBO)
Partially inspired by co-creator Mike Judge’s experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the 1980s, this comedy series follows the misadventures of introverted computer programmer Richard and his brainy friends as they attempt to strike it rich in a high-tech gold rush. They live together in a Bay Area startup incubator loosely run by self-satisfied dot-com millionaire Erlich, who lets them stay in his house rent-free in exchange for a stake in the projects they invent there. But when Richard develops a powerful search algorithm at his day job, he finds himself caught in the middle of a bidding war between his boss — whose firm offers Richard an eight-figure buyout — and a deep-pocketed venture capitalist. Lip Sync Battle
LL Cool J hosts, and model Chrissy Teigen provides color commentary on one the most popular shows “Lip Sync Battle.” Spike TV’s “Lip Sync Battle” brings together some of the biggest performers in entertainment, among them Anna Kendrick, Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, and Terrence Howard to see who better lip-syncs songs of their choice. Trust me the stars go all out and take this seriously in full costume and makeup, sometimes back up dancers. It is so worth it!!
