By the time Friday night comes around, my daughter and I are exhausted from all the week’s activities. The last thing I want to do is cook and clean up the dishes. My only goal is to relax and catch up with my daughter. Happily, we can take a breather at our local McDonald’s.
I think that McDonald’s has worked to adapt and provide customers food with great taste, modern choices and real ingredients. I applauded the move when McDonald’s decided to serve breakfast all day because I am a longtime fan of the Egg McMuffin and loved being able to order it for lunch.
The company has also in recent years also made changes to nearly half their national menu by changing the way they source and prepare their food. With all the changes that have evolved, I was certainly very interested in checking out their NEW Signature Artisan Crafted Recipes on a recent visit.
Looking over the choices, it was a toss up between the Maple Bacon Dijon and Sweet BBQ Bacon.
I went with the Sweet BBQ Bacon with grilled chicken sandwich (you actually have a choice of chicken artisan grilled or buttermilk crispy chicken.) Actually it was my daughter’s suggestion because she wanted to try it but did not want to commit. Oh, those teenagers.
To say that we liked the Sweet BBQ Bacon sandwich is an understatement. I let my daughter taste it first and her first reaction was “this is good. I love it.” She then proceeded to eat half of my sandwich before handing it over to me. For a teenager to like anything new in my opinion is almost unheard of.
The Sweet BBQ Bacon sandwich is made with 100% chicken breast filet (very moist and tender), sweet onions, thick-cut Applewood smoked bacon, grilled & crispy onions, and smooth white cheddar on an artisan roll. You can choose a sesame seed bun if you so desire. Well I have to agree with my daughter’s assessment the sandwich met my foodie expectations and more. It was delicious, tasted freshly, the combination of ingredients was perfect and chicken was yummy.
The Signature Crafted Recipes menu also includes Creamy Dijon Sauce and Pico Guacomole. Did you know that all McDonald’s hamburgers and sandwiches are made with either 100% pure beef or chicken not treated with antibiotics important to human medicine? I honestly had no idea they had made these change but of course I am happy they did.
Will I order the Sweet BBQ Bacon sandwich again? Definitely but not until I test out the Pico de Gallo and Maple Bacon Dijon first. Don’t those sound equally delightful?
And for my daughter, she ordered her usual – Chicken McNuggets. Some things never change which is fine with me since Chicken McNuggets have no artificial preservatives and are made with chicken not with antibiotics important to human medicine.*
If you haven’t tried the NEW McDonald’s Signature Crafted Sandwiches, I definitely recommend you try them. I was happy with my choice and can’t wait to head back and try the rest of the Signature Crafted Recipes menu.

And do download the McDonald’s mobile app to check out their exclusive deals and promotions. We were able to get free fries and a drink with our meal – SWEET since I loooove McDonald’s fries.

I tried the Sweet BBQ Bacon sandwich with crispy chicken on an artisan bun last weekend and it was pretty good! McDonald’s is stepping their game up! Too bad I’m going to giving up all of that while I whip myself back to shape.

I am with you but I balance treating myself by adding an extra workout a week.
