I admit that while you are in swim class, that I don’t always watch you.
That should not come as a surprise to you since you can see me through the window that I am usually buried in the Sunday New York Times (yes, non-New Yorkers. parts of the Sunday Times comes out on Saturday.)
But I do occasionally look up to watch you do a few laps so I can see what new strokes you are learning and how you have progressed over the years. Today, I was so impressed that you actually did the breast stroke for an entire lap. Wow!
I am so proud of you, I almost cried my happy tears but I did not want to embarrass myself in front of the other parents. Although, I don’t think they would have noticed since they were all buried in a paper or checking emails (that’s what we parents do when we have 45 minutes to ourselves, stop parenting.)
While I am so proud of how you have progressed in the last few weeks, I was even more proud of your moving up a level to Sharks. I remember that you were so upset that your Saturdays during the school year were now taken up with tutoring and that are your friends would be be moving up to Sharks without you and that it take the entire summer to catch up but here we are 5 weeks into the swim class and you are now a shark.
The excitement with you which you read your Swim report showed me that when you set your mind to achieving a goal that you can do it. I know one of your goals is to be on the swim team and I don’t doubt that you will do it.
Congratulations Pumpkin!
