If Money Were No Object, I would upgrade to a three bedroom Penthouse apartment with a terrace overlooking Gramercy Park. I live downtown now but of all the places in the city, I would want to move to Gramercy Park tops my list. It’s quiet, centrally located, has a London -style feel with all the brownstones and still close to all my current friends. While I love my apartment and am happy to actually own my apartment, space is a luxury. So you can imagine that if I were to win the lottery, my first order of business after setting aside college and retirement money is to move to a bigger place.
What’s also great about buying in Gramercy Park is that you get a key to the park just like in the movie Notting Hill starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Gramercy Park is New York City’s only private park. This park is perfectly manicured, there are benches to sit and relax. Mind you , I literally never seen anyone in the park, ever. Why this should appeal to me is nuts since I don’t really like to sit in the park and they most likely don’t allow children or parties. I guess it’s the exclusivity of it all.
Of course, a terrace is a must. Several friends have terraces and I just love the idea of having dinner outside overlooking the city or enjoying a cup of coffee reading the New York Times. That is truly New York.
What would you want if Money were No Object?
