I decided we had to get at least one cultural excursion in during my daughter’s vacation so off to Museum of Modern Art we went.
My daughter learned about 4 artists in pre-school, Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Edgar Degas. For the most part, she can spot any one of their paintings which is quite amazing since I am pretty sure I had no idea who those artists were until high school and beyond.
At this stage of her development, our trips to the museum consist of our tracking down the above 4 artists and quickly glancing at their works. If I am lucky, I will get a passing glance at other paintings as we
whiz by each gallery.
One surprise on this trip was her insistence on sitting in the sculpture garden to draw one of the statues. Given I am not the least bit creative, I can only hope that this interest continues to grow.
