Our room included contemporary wood furnishings with comfortable beds, perfect for sleeping soundly. That said, the queen size bed seemed small for two people. Our room included free wi-fi, a Keurig coffee maker, and flat-screen television. I found during my stay that some rooms included a microwave and a mini-fridge. If your room doesn’t include them, definitely ask the front desk or request them when you book your reservation. Having a fridge would have made having a Keurig much more enjoyable as I like milk in my coffee.
While the bathroom was huge, we found out upon checking into our room that it was for designed, disabled guests (a great feature for those who need it). That said, I would have appreciated being told at check in since the shower, of course, was wheelchair accessible did not have a door that closed all the way which made for a quick and drafty shower!
Bistro 72 is the hotel restaurant which features locally grown ingredients and regional wines on their menu. And for music lovers, there is live entertainment each Wednesday through Saturday nights.
We had a chance to taste some of the dishes during dinner and enjoyed their standard breakfast fare. There is a breakfast buffet available for $16. It seemed a bit pricey for my taste. And looking for a fresh cup of coffee, that is free in the bistro in the morning. Just note that because the hotel is a popular place to stay for wedding guests, definitely make a reservation at the restaurant to ensure you get a table when you want.
For those who can’t miss working out, there is a fitness center for guests. I find that smaller hotels seem to skip this amenity. The pool was closed during our visit however, the pool area and fireplace lounge looked great for relaxing after a long day of being a tourist or just to relax and do nothing.
A hidden benefit of the Hotel Indigo is the shuttle service. Since I was just there for the weekend, I didn’t really want to rent a car (this actually is an option since there is an on-site rental car service) so the shuttle service is the perfect option for New Yorkers without cars. Their shuttle service will drop and pick you up at locations within a five-mile radius of the hotel.
That means you can take the Jitney to the Tanger Outlet stop and they will pick you up. I found out from another guest that there is a Wal-Mart across the street from the Jitney stop. They stocked up on items they forgot and snacks and the shuttle picked them up there. There are also major attractions within the 5-mile radius such as the Long Island Aquarium, Tanger Outlet, Splish Splash Water Park and Reeve’s Beach. If you want to visit a vineyard which is outside the 5-mile radius. you will have to hire the shuttle for an additional fee.
I would definitely return to stay at Indigo East End as there many affordable special event packages like Indigo girls weekend, a shopping weekend and Wine getaway that I know I would enjoy!
