Becoming a mother has been one of the great joys of my life and I would never trade my life for the life before I adopted my daughter. However, it was a long journey to that fateful day that I received the phone call that would change my life forever. In addition to the long and arduous application process, adoption costs are not for the faint of heart. I was lucky that the company I worked for gave $5k to adopting families and the IRS has a deduction you can claim for adoption expenses but both come long after the actual adoption.
That’s why I was excited to run across an organization, Helpusadopt.org, a New York based non-profit dedicated to helping couples and individuals with the costs of their adoptions by awarding grants of up to $15,000. That is so an amazing mission for the organization, basically helping people become mothers and fathers.
To learn more about the organization, request and application or purchase incredible jewelry designed by two adoptive mothers (all proceeds go to the organization), visit helpusadopt.org or call (917) 684-5484 for more information.
Of course, if you know of a couple or individual that would like to adopt but is being stopped because of the money issue, forward this post onto them.
