HOW DO YOU DO IT? That is the question I always get from other moms who are not single moms or single people Who the hell knows? I just do it.
I would be lying if I did not admit that some days are better than others. My life for the last 11 years has been filled with sleepless nights from getting up every two hours to feed my little infant or had to get the evil eye from passersby while my three year old rolls around on the grimy New York city sidewalk having a temper tantrum or tried to figure out common core math or visit 10 middle schools and so much more but I wouldn’t trade moment because I love my daughter and she is the best thing that has happened to me.
But that doesn’t mean I haven’t taken a day off from work thinking I would get a slew of errands done and ending up on sofa happy to watch eight hours of mindless television because I was just so exhausted.
So this past weekend, I decided that dammit I would take two hours off from being Super Mommy and go to the movies. And I went by myself because frankly arranging to go with someone else is actually more exhausting than just doing it.
There is nothing truly liberating than just sitting and enjoying a movie. What’s not to like, it’s dark, you get escape reality for a couple of hours and eat lots of fattening popcorn.
Talk about refreshing!!
Have you ever taken off time from being SuperMommy and what did you do to relax?
P.S. I went to Michael Keaton’s Birdman. Let me say this, it was weird and wait to see it on video or cable.
