Getting Gorgeous Event with Audrey McClelland P.S. Vera was so busy getting her photos with other attendees I could not get my photo with her.
The Getting Gorgeous Event was one of my favorite events during the BlogHer Conference in New York City hosted by two of my favorite bloggers Audrey McClelland (momgenerations.com ) and Vera Sweeney (ladyandtheblog.com).
During the event, I was treated to a makeover using Nuance Salma Hayek (did you even know she had a make-up line sold exclusively at CVS?) that took my look up a notch. Of course, I wish I had a makeup artist like Jose to follow me around all day, every day.
In addition to the Nuance by Salma Hayek makeover, there was so much to see and do. Here is a roundup of my afternoon of Getting Gorgeous:
Getting Gorgeous also means being organized and who better to organize you than having beautifully designed closets from Easy Closets. Of course, one of my favorite ways to organize is with Mabel’s Labels, a brand that I have been using for years to tag my daughter’s things from clothes to water bottles to camp clothes. Now they have a new Mabel’s Labels Tween line that my daughter just loves. And did you know that Mabel’s Labels is now sold in Wal-Mart stores across the United States. Not to be outdone, Mom Agenda is a fantastic way through agendas, journals and more to organize our wacky busy lives.
Getting Gorgeous without a doubt means looking good. When I think of Coldwater Creek, frankly, the word fashionable does not come to mind. Looking at the clothes sampling at the event, I will admit that I will have to check them out in the coming months since I liked what I saw. Coldwater Creek is definitely on trend for the Fall with colored jeans and frankly better looking “non-mom” type jeans. Sadly, I was pressed for time and wasn’t able to try on the denim jeans they were offering to attendees. Another new brand, I liked was Underbrella, a revolutionary, machine washable and leak-resistant performance underwear. I am planning to buy the smallest pair for my tween daughter and put it in her backpack so she is prepared if she gets her first period at school. Hanes is one of the basics in our household and now all my purchases can help my daughters’ school. Hanes is now part of Box Tops for Education.
And kudos to the remainder of Getting Gorgeous sponsors that included CVS Pharmacy Beauty Club (where if you spend $50 on beauty products you get $5 Extra Buck Rewards), Mom Pulse, Zarbee’s All – Natural Cough Products, Pop Cap Games, Downy and Not Your Mother’s Hair Bar.
After the event, I walked into the bright sunlight of New York City, a more confident and happy person.
Thanks again to Vera Sweeney and Audrey McClelland of Getting Gorgeous for an amazing afternoon at the Warwick Hotel.
