Get out the Passports – Heading to Brooklyn For Lunch at the Grocery Restaurant

October 25, 2010 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

We celebrated my daughter’s godmother’s  (she has two) birthday over the weekend. Her choice  for our dining pleasures is “The Grocery Restaurant” located in Brooklyn on Smith Street. For non- Brooklynites, Smith Street has really “grown up” adding new restaurants and retailers to the neighboorhood, making it a must see destination.

Usually at these birthday lunches, we ordered the prix menu but since we are a group of meateaters, we passed  on the vegetarian prix fixe.

Before we ordered, we had to order champagne to get the celebration started. There were two choices that seemed to appeal to us –  grass fed beef  burger and  bbq sandwich with pulled pork and coffee BBQ sauce.

Both were amazingly good. The pulled pork tasted nothing like pork which I am assuming that was the chef’s intention.

Since this was Saturday afternoon, there only a few tables that were occupied, so we really took our sweet time, enjoyed great conversation and  savored a great meal.

Of course, now I am curious and want to try to restaurant at night.
