Hard to believe but there was a time that my preferred form of exercise was running. But it was has been many moons since I have actually run more than 5 minutes on a even a treadmill which is why I signed up for the 5K runDisney Fun Run which is part of the Disney Social Media Moms celebration. Yes, a 5K. It seemed like a doable goal, a 13 minute mile. Although I had actually got up to running 30 minutes on the threadmill, my daughter and I went out the Sunday before and I only ran for 8 minutes. YIKES!
The day of the race or should I say the morning of the race, we had to be outside at 5am. Yikes again.
But it was so inspiring to be outside with all the other mom runners or should I say mom runners and mom run/walkers. I opted to try to run as along as I could and then walk the rest of the way.
I can not tell you what a thrill it to run through Disneyland Park past the Magic Kingdom and through California Adventures without sole insight except the other runners and cheering Disney castmembers keeping me motivated throughout the race. I will admit that I stopped for a few seconds do a couple of videos of me running and walked around the ferris wheel but finished in a sprint to the finish line in Radiator Springs in Cars Land. And I wasn’t last proving my daughter wrong. But to those who were in the back of the pack, it’s still an accomplishment just doing it, RIGHT!
#runDisney FINISH LINE
Just in case you are interested there are 8 runDisney events throughout the year and some are for the entire family. Will I run another 5K, I sure hope so.
Disclosure: I have to thank New Balance, the official running shoe of runDisney for providing me with some amazing running shoes. A dream to run with. Before the race, they provided tips on running that were super helpful. You can download their free Good Form running app here!

Congrats on finishing your race! As someone who could barely jog a few minutes, I understand how fantastic it feels to finish a race. And to run at Disney would be so much more fun than a lot of other races. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations! I did a 2K fun run once and thought I was going to die. I found myself being a bit competitive but not in shape enough to actually run the entire distance well. You have inspired me to try this again. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! What an amazing experience and an amazing place to have it! I would love to experience something like that someday. Congratulations of making it to the finish 🙂 *Love your Minnie Ears!*

Congratulations – It is such a great feeling of accomplishment to set a goal and finish. Several years ago I did my first 5k run and I was elated that I finished – then I actually pushed even farther and did a half marathon. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but I feel so proud that I actually did it.

Uber congrats on this very special accomplishment!!! I don’t even know you, but I am so, so happy to read this story. I am a long-time runner, who, upon reading your words, literally gave me a “runner’s high.”
High five to you, Mama! You’ve earned it.
Stopping by from SITS. <3
Oh! And I was just in your neck of the woods (kind of: Jersey) last week visiting family. I posted most recently on my blog about it…

Go you!! I have only done 1 5k since my last pregnancy, and it was HARD! I have been training hard, so hopefully I can complete a 10k this fall!!! 🙂 And I’d love to run Disney one day! Congrats to you!

Congratulations! I have attempted to learn to run without success in the past, and have just downloaded the C25K app on my phone to give it another shot. I would love to learn to be a runner, RunDisney looks like a fantastic incentive – if only I was in the US and not Australia!
I popped over from SITC, glad to “meet” you.
