I am not the most sentimental person but as my daughter’s eighth birthday approaches it makes me think of my late parents and how I wish they were here to see their granddaughter turn eight and enjoy her funny smile and demeanor.

What a great picture. I didn’t know my grandparents and always wished I had, so I understand your thoughts. I hope your daughter has a wonderful birthday. π

What a beautiful portrait. My husband’s parents are also no longer with us, and I so hate that they never got to meet their grandchildren.

gorgeous shot. i wish i had kept pictures of my parents when i moved to Thailand. I had a big purge before moving here and decided that the “things” in my life were weighing me down. so I got rid of just about everything. I told myself that photos were for people who can’t remember.
but the thing is… as I get older… sometimes I really can’t remember and it would be nice to have a photo or two. I need to contact my mum’s sisters to ask them to send me some photos.
your mum’s kimono is beautiful. are those platform wooden shoes? so gorgeous. lovely shot. thanks for sharing it. π

I’m not too sentimental either, but I was going through baby clothes this week and started crying. I was sad about my kids growing up. My sister also pregnant with a baby that is Trisomy 18 positive. I think that was part of my burst of emotion.
