DreamWorks Animation unveiled their 2012 movies: Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted starring Ben Stiller and Chris Rock as well as Rise of the Guardians starring Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher, Chris Pine and Jude Law today at the AXA Equitable.
Ben Stiller and Chris Rock introduced the audience to a short, short preview of the June 8 release of third installment of the Madagascar series. As with the last two movies, there is a lot jokes, running around with lion Alex (Ben Stiller), zebra Marty (Chris Rock), hippo Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) and giraffe Melman (David Schwimmer) as they try to track down the hilarious penguins in Monte Carlo and make their way back home to the Central Park Zoo. In their escape, they are hunted by a new “villain” Captaine Chantel DuBois (Frances McDormand) of Monte Carlo Animal Control. We were privy to a pretty long preview with lots of action, chase scenes and funny one-liners. Looking forward to seeing the entire movie. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted comes out June 8.
As if Ben Stiller and Chris Rock weren’t enough, one of my favorite actors Alec Baldwin came out to introduce Rise Of The Guardians after Director Peter Ramsey spoke about the work of the movie. While I had not read the William Joyce books on which the movie is based I was impressed with the storyline and rough cut preview. Although there were some unfinished bits, it looked amazing.
The Rise of The Guardians revolves around childhood icons such as Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, the Sandman and Jack Frost. Then one day Pitch the villain threatens the happiness of all children by destroying their belief in these wonderful childhood heroes. The cast includes North aka Santa (Alec Baldwin), Bunnymund aka the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman, Australian accent and all), Tooth aka the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) Sandy aka the Sandman who doesn’t speak. Pitch the villain is voiced by Jude Law. I just loved the look, feel and plot of this movie and can’t wait to see it. The Rise of the Guardians comes out November 21 just in time for the Holidays.
