Linda Cardellini (Sarah) along with the director Sean Anders and screenwriters Brian Burns and John Morris. Everyone on the panel was a nice as can be especially the two leads, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. It was probably one of the funniest press conferences I have been to in a long time because how can it not be when Will Ferrell is on the dais. It might have been a raucous press conference but I did get some great fun facts from the stars and the producers and director of the film.
9 Fun Facts I Learned at The Daddy’s Home Press Conference
1. From real life to the screen is how the idea of Daddy’s Home came about from Producer and co-writer Brian Burns’ encounters meeting his wife’s terrific ex.
2. Now it seems natural that Will Ferrell would play the doting and loving stepfather but during the early discussions, it was not set that he would play the step-father until Mark Wahlberg’s name came up as the possible ex.
3. The scenes that place at the Staple Center for the Lakers game actually took place during a game and the film makers only had 6 minutes to shoot the key half-time shot.
4. Tony Hawk doubled for Farrell during the skateboard scenes
5. Mark Wahlberg was reluctant or shall we say refused to “practice” for the finale.
6. Daddy’s Home is stand up comic Hannibal Burress’ first film role. He plays “Griff”, the laid-back handyman who befriends Dusty and moves into Brad and Sarah’s home.
7. When Mark read the script, he imagined the character as a bad guy but Sean Anders (Director) told him that the dad should be more interesting than just the bad guy and “likable.”
8. Daddy’s Home production took place in New Orleans where the Brad and Sarah Taggart’s home is located.
9. Mark Wahlberg during the filming of the movie actually sings the 103 Panda Jingle but dubbed over by another singer.
Disclosure: NYC Single Mom attended Daddy’s Home press event to facilitate this post.
Vivianna Phoenix says
I believe Hannibal Buress was in the film, “Neighbors.” In 2014 with Seth Rogen and Zack Efron. I believe he was the amusing police officer in the film which released about a year before Here’s Daddy.
