The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals kicked off the Family Forward conference with a fun super-hero themed party at Loews Royal Pacific Resort. I had not heard of The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals until the event and its various fundraising partners and programs that support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
About Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations they raise stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. The organization has been around since 1983 and has raised more than $5 billion, most of it $1 at a time through the charity’s Miracle Balloon icon.
As part of the presentation, we were introduced to Nathan who was born with Mitochondrial Disease. And learned that since his birth, he had been a patient of our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. As you can imagine my daughter and I were touched by his story. But that is not the end of our story. During the VIP Tour of Universal Studios, we were paired with Mitch @gaynycdad family and lucky enough to have Nathan’s family. His family was great to hang with of course, but it was hanging with little Nathan who did not going anywhere without his oxgen and wheel chair who gave my daughter and I inspiration. He was such a trouper going on all the scary rides. I even said you are so brave and his response, “I am actually afraid.” He was one little boy who was going to live life to fullest. As I said, such an inspiration.
