My daughter is going through her all one color look. She likes pink but this day, she insisted in wearing all pink. As a New Yorker who is has a gazillion black pants, skirts and dresses, I am hanging onto the pink as long as I can.
For All the Black Nerds Out There – Check Out Danny Glover
Have no idea where I have been but Danny Glover is the next hottest comedian. He is currently on NBC’s Community (never watch) and was a writer for 30 Rock. This is one of the funniest bits I have seen in a long time. And thank god it’s safe to be a nerd and black. […]
Birthday, Birthday, Birthday , Baby Girl Turns 7
Well, another year, another birthday. Since March 1st, my daughter has been counting down to her birthday on Saturday, March 13. The birthday celebration began on Friday, March 12, with her school friends. For the school birthday party I ended up baking cupcakes, half chocolate, half pink, per my daughter’s request. Let me say that […]
When Real Life collides with a Blogger Event
This past week I was invited to a blogger event which I had planned to go because the celebrity spokesperson was someone I just loved from her 80s movies and trust me, I have seen all her movies and still watch them today. The reason I ended up not going was because the celebrity’s daughter […]
Dear Kid Saturday – Happy 7th Birthday!!!
Dear Darling Daughter, Today is your seventh birthday. It seems like only yesterday when the adoption agency called me to tell me all about you and that I would become a mother. I remember the day we went to pick you up, you were sooo tiny and so quiet. How different you are today. In […]
31 Days to Build A Better Blog Challenge – Day 1 the Elevator Pitch
Fellow blogger, Newyorkchica inspired me to join her in the 31 Days to Better Blog Challenge. I actually got as far as day l and then just forgot about it. So as you can tell, I am pretty competitive and I hate when other people are moving past me. 31 Days to Better Blog Challenge […]
Open Letter to Mayor Bloomberg – We need more Parks
Dear Mayor Bloomberg, I am fascinated at the fact that you seem to be so concerned about the obesity issue with the children of New York City but don’t seem to provide them with outlets to run around. This past weekend, I happened upon the new park at Union Square. What struck me was that […]
Homemade vs Store Bought Cupcakes
This friday, my daughter’s birthday celebration is happening at school which means, I am responsible for bringing the cupcakes (no cakes please) and drinks. Since I am not working, I thought okay, I have time to bake cupcakes thus saving myself some money. Well lo and behold, she has a dance recital Friday morning, which […]
Dear Kid Saturday – Going to college
Dear Darling Daughter, Lately, you have been into having a “tickle party” before bed mood. I love that about you. What I like best about this pre-bed ritual is that after our “tickle party”, we have a little chat. Usually, it’s filled with a lot of “I love you”, “you are the best daughter in […]
Read Across America – A Chance to Get Past the Classroom Door
Today, my daughter’s school participated in Read Across America, which is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Parents are invited to come to their child’s classroom and read with them. I like this idea for so many […]
