I hate being sick! Not that anyone likes being sick but before I adopted my daughter when I got sick, it was 24 hours and back to normal. Now it takes one to two weeks for me to feel normal and even then I have lithe moments of dizziness. So imagine trying to get fit while sick. You don’t. As if getting to the gym is not enough of a struggle when you are healthy, imagine how difficult it is when you are getting over the flu. It really only takes a few days to fall off the wagon and then it takes a few days to motivate yourself back into it.
After spending days away from the gym, I forced myself back to Lucille Roberts for what I thought would be a light workout to ease myself into the routine again. Well, needless to say, that was a huge mistake. I started on the treadmill slowly but after about 10 minutes I could tell I was either going to pass out or fall of the treadmill like a scene from a comedy. But I was determined to get at least 20 minutes in, so I headed to the bike. This is one of those moments, you wish there was a camera crew following you. I was pedaling so slow that I might as well have been sleeping since I would have burned more calories sleeping.
So instead of feeling rejuvenated, I felt blurried eyed and woozy from exerting myself before I was ready. Lesson learned.
