The recent blizzard threw my plans to have some mommy time down the crapper because the family that was going to host my brother and daughter were snowed in. So I decided that I would take a day off after the break was over and spend the day on the upper east side, wandering the Metropolitan Museum of Art, having a leisurely lunch, and shopping on Madison Avenue.
Well, of course the snow gods did not cooperate in providing a beautiful day. In the end, I did a little shopping and spent most of the day wandering the Met.
Pretzel guy has to make a living, right.
My daughter and I both love Degas – why not, she is taking ballet and just love his work.
The Temple of Dendur – this is one of my favorite sections of the Met not just because of its historical significance but for the memories of parties that I have been to in this room. Nothing is more beautiful than wandering the hall with a glass of wine overlooking the lights of the park.
When I decided to go to the Met, I did not check to see the exhibition schedule so I was pleasantly surprise to see that Joan Miro was there. I always have a fond memories of my high school best friend and I backpacking through Europe and running into these 2 american guys and telling them that we were going to art museum and one of them asks “who is this “Joan” Miro person, anyway?” and we both burst out laughing, “you mean Juan Miro, he’s a he and not a she.”
Once I had traversed the museum, I ended up on Madison Avenue checking out a few stores but had to give up, it was just too much.
Totally enjoyable day and as much as I love going to the museum with others, I prefer to wander and reflect on art I want to look at, not others.

One of my favorite places in the city also! It’s so relaxing there.
This snow is cramping my style!
