Tips to Increase Step Count
New York City is obviously a walking city, but even New Yorkers can plateau, when it comes to walking. Health and Fitness experts say that the minimum number of steps you should walk everyday is 10,000 steps, which I do easily, but my mission is to increase it to 20,000 steps per day.
I know everyone can’t get to the gym everyday or even can afford it these days but as they say, walking is free, so here are 15 tips to increase the number of steps you walk every day.
1. If you don’t have a pedometer, buy one so you can use it to track your steps.
2. Keep a journal and track your daily increase. Remember the goal is 10,000 steps a day.
Increasing Steps at Work

7. Get off the bus, subway or train earlier than usual and walk the rest of the way home/work
8. Park your car as far away from your company entrance

I really appreciate this post! I’m a stay-at-home and a full-time student, but I take my classes from my bedroom, so I don’t get out a lot. These ideas are great for my lifestyle of being at home so much! Thanks!
