Harry Potter Discovery Times Square Exhibition
On July 15, the last Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will open and like many millions of fans of the books (I have read them all) and the movies (I have seen the all several times), it will be the end of an era.
It’s hard to believe that the first movie Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone was released November 16, 2001. That’s ten years ago, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter,) Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley were 11, 10 and 11, respectively. I was not even a mother then, in fact, the movie came as a respite to the time after September 11 and having to commute to Parsippany because the building I worked in was unfit to work in because it sat across from the World Trade Center and had the first 10 floors windows blown out.
Over the last ten years, I was one of those devoted fans who bought the books on day 1 and spent days and late nights reading the books to completion. During the months after I adopted my daughter, I spent many hours in between feedings reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and certainly over the subsequent years, I have spent a many weekend reading the rest of the series.
Here is to the end of an era.
