Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is set to open at Broadway at the Beach beginning Friday, June 21.
This stunningly beautiful exhibition blends over 300 of van Gogh’s most celebrated works with projection technology and a specially curated musical soundtrack to tell the story of one of history’s most enduring and influential artists in a completely unforgettable cinematic multimedia experience.
“Through cutting edge technology, these immersive experiences are redefining what art means to people,” says Paquin Entertainment Group’s President of Exhibitions and Theatrical, Justin Paquin. “It has elevated artwork to the next level, allowing audiences to develop deeper connections with notable masterpieces that were just not possible in previous years.”
While journeying through Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, guests are transported through history learning Van Gogh’s background while witnessing hundreds of iconic masterpieces, including instantly recognizable classics “The Starry Night,” “Sunflowers,” and “Café Terrace at Night” as well as many revealing self-portraits. Freed from their frames, Van Gogh’s spectacular paintings appear on projection-swathed walls inviting guests to fully immerse themselves into the incredible detail of his work. Vincent’s own dreams, thoughts, and words are set to a symphonic score while guests are enveloped in his ever-shifting, swirling, and colorful flowers, cafes, and stunning landscapes, creating an unmatched narrative experience.
Beginning in the Education Room, visitors connect with Vincent van Gogh through personal letters he wrote to his brother and greatest supporter, Theo. Visitors then move into the heart of the exhibition, the Immersive Room, where van Gogh’s works are freed from their frames to dominate the space and fully immerse the audience in the incredible detail of his work, awakening their imagination in a playful and dreamlike way as they are enveloped in colorful flowers, cafes, and stunning landscapes, shifting and swirling across the projection-swathed walls and floor.
Even if you’re not very familiar with van Gogh’s incredible works, this is an excellent access point to his world and a way to connect to the artist behind the art. “When you stand inside these immersive experiences, you truly feel like you are part of these artists’ world,” says Beyond Van Gogh Art Historian Fanny Curtat. “Audiences are seeing a fresh and original perspective, allowing us to form new relationships with notable masterpieces in dynamic and fascinating ways.”
