IT’S ALL FUN AND WINTER GAMES AT JFK!
A hot Scottish import has landed at the TWA Hotel: the weird and wonderful winter sport of curling. Saturday, December 17, you can give the quirky Olympic favorite — which dates back to 16th-century Scotland — a whirl every weekend (for free!) at the landmark hotel’s custom curling rink.
The action takes place right on the tarmac near our 1958 Lockheed Constellation “Connie” airplane turned cocktail lounge.
Been a while since your last match? Here’s a quick curling primer: Curling is a delightful cross between bowling and shuffleboard. Players take turns sliding stones — or, in our case, gray rocks with red and blue handles — across the rink toward a target area. Just aim for the red bullseye and you can’t go wrong! After a few rounds, you’ll be ready to host your own bonspiel — that’s curling lingo for “tournament.”
Just think: You’ll be right on trend. More than 1.5 million people around the world love sliding those curling stones around. Curling has only gotten more popular since the 2022 Winter Olympics, where it proved a crowd favorite. The United States didn’t medal, but practice enough on our rink and you may be able that in 2026!
After the curling day is done, glide over to Connie and toast to the Scots, or curl up in one of our guestrooms for the night and dream of future glory.
The curling rink is open Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 5 PM, weather permitting.
Curling is free and is first come, first served; reservations are not available. All equipment is provided.
