Peapod by Stop and Shop Delivers Fresh Grocery Option to Manhattan

May 31, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Product Reviews

Peapod, online grocery storeNew York City is all about delivery which is why I am excited that Fresh Direct has some competition from Peapod, the country’s leading online grocer by expanding its Peapod by Stop & Shop service in Manhattan. Peapod currently is available in 23 markets in communities in the Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia,  most of the Northeast (Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island,) Chicago, Milwaukee and Indianapolis.

There are several reasons why I like the Peopod option:

  • Convenience of delivery, of course
  • Offers national and private label brands
  • Accepts manufacturers coupons – woohoo, just hand them to delivery person and it’s deducted later.
  • Offers weekly specials so you can save money with thousands of items on sale each week
  • Offers a free mobile app for iPhone/iTouch/iPad, Android and Palm Pre users where customers can start an order, modify an order and place an order all in the palm of your hand. That is so darn convenient.
  • NutriFilter sorting feature
    • Shoppers can now easily identify foods with less fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium (this is my favorite since I am trying to watch my sodium intake.)
    • Shoppers can also choose from nine programs including dairy-free, gluten-free, egg free, peanut-free, USDA low fat, Weight Watchers and USDA Low-Sodium. Fantastic!!

To learn more about Peapod, call 1800 5. PEAPOD (573.2763); email service@peapod.com or visit peapod.com to see if the service is available in your area. Delivery service was just added to my neighborhood, last week, so I will be testing it out.

Disclosure: NYC Single Mom received promotional products at a luncheon.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between usability and appearance.
I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this.
Also, the blog loads super fast for me on Chrome. Exceptional Blog!

You’ll also be in a better position to shop around for bargains.
Almost every e-commerce site runs discounts daily on several products.
But, skipping that coffee three times a week would put over seven hundred dollars back into their pockets over a year.
