Self-Care, Self-Care, Self-Care!! That’s all anyone talks about nowadays, you see articles, books, news segments on how self-care is important to our health and well-being. And yes, I totally agree. As a single mom, I have been for weeks telling myself, slow down and take time out just for you.
Well finally, I did.
I decided that I would take a day off from work and go see Avengers Endgame. And boy was it worth it as you can see from my Avengers: Endgame review. It was just nice to take the morning off and just relax watching a movie.
But my day did not end there. I planned a trip to the Metropolitan Museum. This was another goal of mine to visit a museum a month. Better late than never as they say. Because it turned out to be a beautiful, sunny, not humid day in New York City, I walked and just enjoyed the sights of visiting a neighborhood I rarely visit, the Upper West Side. But before I crossed Central Park, I treated myself to Chinese lunch. Yes, I don’t care if I have to eat by myself, I enjoyed my lunch thoroughly.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of my favorite museums in New York City and for good reason, it is so chock full of continuing exhibits and new ones that spark the imagination. And this time of the year, there is nothing so iconic as going to the roof deck to see the New York skyline.

This reminded me of the exhibit at the Hayden Planetarium.

Play it Loud Instruments of Rock n Roll
Music fans will love checking out the instruments of everybody from Chuck Berry to Eddie Van Halen to Lady Gaga and so many more fan favorites. Did I mention that QuestLove’s band, The Beatles and The Who instruments made the cut?
It seemed fitting that I went the Play it Loud exhibit and there was Prince given it’s the third anniversary of this death. Did you even know he played guitar? He is probably one of the most proficient guitar players. And look closely at the heel of his shoes. Prince was a very, very short man and always wore 3-inch heels.
In the exhibit, there is a video of Prince shredding the guitar playing My Guitar Gently Weeps at George Harrison’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Here is the entire video.
After wandering the halls, I went to my favorite place to reflect is the Caroll and Milton Petrie Sculpture Gallery.
What an enjoyable day! I can’t wait to do it again. I am going to try to get back to the MET because there were so many exhibits and galleries that I would love to see.
What do you when you want to take a breather and indulge in self-care?
