Interested in seeing a movie about wrestlers? I wasn’t! Know any WWE names wrestlers? I know two – Hulk Hogan and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. So what would make me see FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY? The trailer for one and I am glad I did. It is the feel good, stand up and cheer movie you are looking for in 2019!
FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY is a heartwarming comedy based on the incredible true story of WWE Superstar Paige™. If you are expecting to see a lot of wrestling scenes, you won’t, the movie focuses on Paige’s family before she became a WWE star and her journey from going from “Saraya Bevis” of Norwich, England born into a tight-knit wrestling family to world-famous WWE Superstar Paige. What wrestling is popular in England? Apparently so.
Her family are characters unto themselves. Mum is played by Lena Headey (yes, Game of Thrones fans) and Dad is played by Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) so you know they are both funny. Get used to the accents its part of who they are and so represents where they are from.
Paige and her brother Zak are ecstatic when they get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try out for WWE. But when only Paige earns a spot in the competitive training program, she must leave her family and face this new, cut-throat world alone. Paige’s journey pushes her to dig deep, fight for her family, and ultimately prove to the world that what makes her different is the very thing that can make her a star.
This is no Downtown Abbey with posh English accents. Another reason I loved this movie which I think you will relate is that yes in England there are rags to riches stories and if you have a passion and work hard for your dreams things will break your way.
If you are looking for an inspirational, funny and stand up and cheer kind of movie then see FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY. I saw this movie with journalists from around the country and at the end of the movie, everyone clapped. The last time that happened, I was screening Black Panther.
