Will not lie, my daughter and I love bacon. Not that we eat it a lot, it’s usually a weekend treat we eat with our eggs. So the idea of dining at a restaurant named BARBACON is something we could not pass up. My daughter and I had the opportunity to experience a BARBACON brunch with my work husband, Mitch Chaitin from gaynycdad.com, his husband, his son and his girlfriend. Full disclosure, Mitch and I had attended BarBacon’s press event so we knew in advance that our meal was going to be delicious.
Chef Peter Sherman brings in bacon from several areas in the country including the Ozarks, New England, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and California.
Definitely start with The Tasting – BarBacon’s four artisan bacon slices comprised of jalapeno, pecan, black pepper, and maple bacon. Maple Bacon was my favorite followed by pecan, so deliciously crispy!!
Want to get your non-loving veggie friends to eat Brussel Sprouts then BarBacon’s Brussel Sprouts will win them over. These are seriously the best Brussel Sprouts I ever have eaten. They are charred with Vietnamese Glaze, bacon and topped with greek yogurt Order these and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
How does one upgrade everyone’s favorite comfort food, add bacon of course? Bacon Macaroni and Cheese with bacon lardons (the best), crispy shallots and chives was my daughter’s choice and she was not let down. I had a few bites and wow!!! Definitely a favorite with us.
Chicken Biscuit Sandwich made of buttermilk biscuit, fried chicken thigh topped with black pepper sausage gravy and bacon was a definitely a meal of an entree. It was definitely delicious and a healthy portion for one person. I ended up taking half home for a snack later.
Looking for alternatives then opt for the Bacon French Toast. Yes, it was topped with bacon but that is not what made it a sensation, it was that it was made with thick, thick bread that melted in your mouth. Next time, we visit the restaurant, we are going for brunch so I can order the French Toast that is how out of this world it was.
And just to mix it up, both the Smoked St. Louis Ribs and BarBacon Burger got rave reviews.
And if you are looking for starters order the Kentucky Fried Bacon Bites. Mitch @GayNYCDad describes them as “bacon cutlets” and his description is perfect. They might have been everyone’s favorite appetizer although the Chicken Wings were a close second.

And if you are lucky you will run into the Chef Peter Sherman during your meal.
And looking for a cocktail, there are Bacon-Infused drinks. I have enjoyed both the BarBacon Old Fashioned and Bacon Bloody Mary. P.S. we were so full, we did not indulge in the Bacon desserts, next time!! Yes, we are coming back!!
Bacon lovers do not miss out on an enjoyable and gastronomic food experience at BarBacon.
BarBacon has two locations: Union Square at 127 4th Avenue and Hell’s Kitchen at 836 9th Avenue.
