Way back when I bought a Bose Wave CD and Radio Audio System. If you don’t know the brand, it was founded by Amar Gopal Bose who during his illustrious career was an electrical engineer, sound engineer and a Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He developed the Bose speakers because he could not find any that offered music that replicated live music.
Anyway, their products were known for the sound quality. In my attempts to clean, organize and get rid of items I never use, I happened upon my Bose Wave CD and Radio player. Now you are asking why did I keep it all these years, who knows!! I am sure there was a reason at the time but I can’t remember.
At the same time I was cleaning, I found the soundtrack to Guardians of Galaxy. So I pulled out my Bose Wave CD and radio and played the soundtrack. And the sound quality which Bose is famous for is still amazing.
I will admit I have been buying a few CD’s which are truly old school. I found a few bargains on Amazon like Daryl Hall and John Oates and Earth, Wind and Fire greatest hits and it’s been fun!!
I know many will ask why not just sign up for Pandora and Spotify or listen to my iPhone, I could but I just like going old school and listening to the radio to catch up on new and old music. And the sound is amazing!! And I am saving money sort of if I don’t keep buying CDs.
Of course, Bose now sells Bose Wave SoundTouch Music System IV that works with Alexa but shockingly they still sell a version like the one I have, the Bose Wave Audio System.
Have you found an item that you recently discovered and decided that it had not passed its’ usefulness?
Disclosure: NYC Single Mom was not compensated for this post. I just like to save money when I can!

I try to get rid of stuff all the time and hubby says that is still good don’t get rid of that. Honestly yes we have found treasures we forgotten about and started using them again.

I tend to get rid of stuff and then wish I had it back. After seeing a couple of your CD selections, I’m wanting to listen to all my old favorite songs from the 70’s.
NYCSingleMom says
Right!! I want to listen songs from yesteryear.
Amber Myers says
I need one of these. I have so many CDs! I’ll have to buy one so I can have a dance party with my family.
NYCSingleMom says
Now I wish I kept all my CDs. I like so many others downloaded them on my iPod/iphone. Sometimes its just easier to listen to a CD

I am the saver and my husband is the one that wants to throw out in this family. Those Bose systems were the greatest in their day
NYCSingleMom says
Isnt it funny how so many tech products were the thing to have!
Terri Steffes says
We adore our Bose system. It has stood the test of time. Right now I have it in my office, but I believe we are moving it to our workroom.
NYCSingleMom says
it is made to last and the sound…

NYCSingleMom says
I found old yearbooks too. And I am keeping them.

I share your nostalgia for the old ways we used to listen to music. The power of music itself is often steeped in nostalgia, so it makes sense.
Jenn says
Yes! This is a great find. I am often too quick to toss things into the donation pile and rid of them. I sometimes wish I had them back.

Bose is such a quality brand and even their new items rock. I also still have CDs and often listen to old favorites while in the car.
Sue Reddel says
Nothing better than cranking up old tunes when you’re cleaning the house. Sometimes old school is the best way to go. Bose sound systems are amazing no matter which model you’re using.
NYCSingleMom says
I am so glad, I kept moving it from place to place and didnt give it away after I downloaded all my CDs.

I’m so glad you found something that is useful. I haven’t yet found anything old that I can use, and my parents tried to give me everything they owned before they moved to another state. I do wish that I could find something that could play my old records without having to have a bulky turnstile.
NYCSingleMom says
Turnstiles are making a comeback with milennials and younger. My daughter even expressed interest in one. The problem is that vinyl is not cheap

My husband is the type that never gets rid of anything, so he is always finding things useful. Although this is a great find. Bose is a great product and the sound quality is amazing!
Kelly Reci says
My husband and I are so different when it comes to keeping and throwing things out. I tend to toss it once it has no use whereas my husband finds the sentimental value in just about everything. Love that your Bose sound system is still working well – urges me to finally buy one.
NYCSingleMom says
Bose is a quality product and I am sure the ones now being produced are better and have more features.
Terri Beavers says
I love that you found this, what a gem. I’m fixing to start packing to move to a larger home and there’s seriously no telling what I”ll find that I’ve forgotten about.

It is amazing what gets lost in your own house! I found an old I thought was gone forever.

My husband wanted to throw away a VHS player that we have but I kept it because you don’t see it anymore. It still works so I did not get rid of it.
NYCSingleMom says
You never know when some random VHS will pop up and you need it. I was handed down a slew of Barney/Blue’s Clues VHS tapes 16 years (yes 16 years ago) and had to buy a VHS player. Sounds nutty but to buy those tapes would have cost hundreds and the VHS player was like $50. It served us well for years.

I found so much good stuff when I was clanging out my house during my move a couple of months ago…college yearbooks, sorority stuff, BOXES of photos!! I could have spent hours looking through it all!!
NYCSingleMom says
This was soft clean. At some point I have to deal with the photos from before the digital age (I am old) and my daughters elementary school stuff.
Karen Morse says
Nothing is better than vinyl records and CDs! I think this is one of the best ways to enjoy music at home or in the car. Plus, it’s bose, how can you not love an audio system like that!

Reading this post makes me reminisce the good old times. I used to own a lot of CD’s too! Such a great time to listen and emote at the same time.
