In the aftermath of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Scott Lang aka Ant-Man grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father in ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, the sequel to Ant-Man. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne aka The WASP and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
Usually, sequels don’t hold up to the original but ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is clever, humorous, action-packed and filled with “wow” sight gags like battling a “huge” Hello Kitty Pez dispenser.
And I would be remiss if I did not mention Michael Pena’s scene-stealing Luis who is a hilarious delight. It might be worth the price of admission alone.
It’s hard to believe that Marvel’s first female superhero, The WASP finally get’s a starring role on the big screen. And I love Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne aka the Wasp. She’s funny, smart and kicks ass.
Looking through my Ant-Man cast. I am thinking this is a Marvel movie with tons of people of color – Michael Pena, Randall Park, Laurence Fishburne, T.I. and Hannah John-Kamen as supervillain space phasing Ghost. Marvel has steadily risen the stakes on making the movies less white!
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, Randall Park, with Michelle Pfeiffer, with Laurence Fishburne and Michael Douglas.
