THOR: RAGNAROK Is the Best THOR Movie to Date
The highly anticipated THOR: RAGNAROK will be in theaters November 3rd and Marvel fans will not be disappointed.
In the latest installment, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela.
But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk! THOR: RAGNAROK is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.
5 Reasons Why I love THOR: RAGNAROK And It is a Must See This Fall
1. Chris Hemsworth – Okay, what’s not to love, right! But seriously, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor has played the stoic straight man to all the other Marvel characters over the years. And yes he is nice to look at but in Thor: Ragnorak, he is funny, witty and truly holds the movie together. His scenes with Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his “friend from work” who ends up fighting on the Sakaar are really good! His interactions with brother Loki and Valkyrie are noteworthy in keeping your interest.
2. The introduction of new characters – the movie features Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, once an elite warrior for Asgard; Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster, the ruler on Sakaar and Karl Urban as Skurge as Hela’s bad guy sidekick and of course Hela, Marvel’s latest villain played by the fabulous Cate Blanchett.
3. Tessa Thompson as Valkrie – Admittedly, I recognize Thompson but am not familiar with her work from Creed but her casting in the coveted role of Valkyrie was a coup because she holds her own on the screen with the other cast members.
According to Kevin Feige (Marvel producer) states that “we were looking for an actress to portray this character who could give it as good as Thor does, who could really stand up, shoulder-to-shoulder, with Chris Hemsworth. And, we were big fans of Tessa Thompson for many years, particularly for her performance in ‘Creed.’ It’s was amazing to have her as one of the two new female characters in the movie.”
And yes I am happy that finally a woman of color is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (stay tuned for Black Panther when it’s expands.). And that she is part of the Valkyrior, powerful female warriors in the Marvel comics is fantastic to show that yes, girls are fighters and can hold their own with the other Marvel characters. None of the wimpy girlfriend accessory that Jane (Natalie Portman who was totally miscast and I wish would stop doing blockbuster movies she is not right for, sorry, tangent rant done) was in the earlier Thor movies. Don’t be surprised, if Valkrie in future years is Halloween favorites for girls.
4. It’s funny, nuff said.
5. Finally, Tom Hiddleston returns as everybody’s favorite villain brother, Loki. Hiddleston always brings his A game to the marvel movies and his interactions with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor are always a delight.
And from the 14 year old teenager’s perspective, it rocked. Okay, she didn’t say it rocked.
She said “it was funny, awesome, and my favorite Thor movie.”
High praise from the moody teenager.
THOR: RAGNAROK opens in theaters everywhere November 3rd! Well worth your time.
