The official start of Summer is almost here and I can’t wait! I have so much that I am looking forward to this Summer. It’s going to be action packed and I know it will be over before I know it. Let the fun and memories begin.
- Vacationing in Barbados – last year, my daughter vacationed in Barbados for the first time and we loved it so much we are headed back. We are lucky that one of my best friends is from the gorgeous island and has family living on the island which makes the experience all the better to get the insider’s view.
- My daughter heads off to sleepaway camp for the first time. While I am thrilled my daughter will be able to experience three weeks living in a camp and enjoying the outdoor life, I will be alone with no responsibilities. I may be working the entire time but there is something to be said to having a few weeks to myself. Not having to worry about keeping a teenager busy and cooking everyday is a vacation in itself.
- Treating myself to a spa day while she is away at camp. I can’t wait.
- Visiting Hershey Park where I can’t wait to see What’s New in Hershey PA.
- My sister and nephew are visiting New York City. This is my nephew’s first trip to New York City so my daughter and I are excited to show him the town. A mini-family reunion cousins and sisters hanging together. Hopefully my brother in law can make it next time. Work that pesky thing we all must do.
- Visit a museum – I live in a city filled with world class museums yet I never go. I am determined to visit two museums over the Summer!!
- Dinner with friends – no explanation needed.

I hear you about sleep away camp! Single mom here too – sometimes the weeks when I “just” go to work feel a little like a vacation, even though I miss the girls of course!
My husband and I loved Barbados. We spent 3 weeks there a couple of years ago and would love to go back. We’re headed to St. Maarten again this summer, but maybe next year. Summer is my favorite time of the year! Looks like you have a fun summer planned.
St. Maarten is a destination on visit list. So many places in the world to visit right!

Oh wow it sounds like you have an amazing summer ahead of you I keep seeing bits about Hershey Park and it sounds absolutely amazing.

We went o Hershey PA a couple of years ago and we loved it there especially the kids. In fact they want to go back again.
Ohhh, I would love to visit Barbados one day. The water looks so gorgeous! Hershey, Pa sounds like a fun trip too. We have stopped there during our road trip but never gone actually in. Sounds like a fun summer.
Number 5 is a great way to practice your tour-guiding skills. I’m sure your sister and nephew will have a great time.
I know exactly what you mean about having a few weeks to yourself feeling like a vacation – my boys are away for the first time this summer for 5 days with their grandparents, I can’t believe I will have FREE TIME! Enjoy!
I am looking forward to going to your huge family reunion next month on my mom’s side of the family. There are cousins I have not seen since I was a teenager who we used to hangout with. Thanks for sharing the things you are looking forward to doing this summer.

Omg, I am so excited for your daughter and her upcoming camp experience. I have so many amazing memories from sleep-away camp. So exciting! I hope she has a great time and that you get the rest (and pampering) that you deserve while she’s away.
I can’t believe how fast the year is going by. I’m actually looking forward to my daughter’s Nationals dance competition this year. I got a reservation at a newly remodeled Airbnb so it’s going to be a nice stay.
Now that sounds like a great list of ways to spend the summer. Enjoy that dinner sans children.
