Since I started blogging, I have been asked to interview numerous celebrities. So back in 2011, when I was invited to interview Ivanka Trump for a Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Charity Event at Trump Tower, I said sure, why not.
I can not tell you the number of celebrities that I have been asked to cover who refuse to even be photographed so I was curious to see which celebrity personality type would show up. As I wrote in my 2011 post, I was surprised that she arrived at the event sans entourage, was happy to answer my questions (remember I had only been blogging about a year and half at that point) and agree to videotape an interview.
I think like many people who meet her I was impressed at her generosity in granting this new blogger an interview, her poise and professionalism. She didn’t hesitate when I asked for a photograph and frankly was gracious in doing it. That is I mentioned not always the case with celebrities.
So why am I writing about this meeting that happened in 2011. First, if you are a regular follower of my blog, you know that I do not write about politics nor anything particularly controversial. That is not the focus of my blog and frankly other bloggers do it better. I will say this about the subject politics – this is America and everyone is entitled to support the candidate of their choice (as long as you can have a rationale, non-name calling discussion about your point of view.)
But I just couldn’t say nothing. When the run for the White House started, I told people I had met and interviewed Ivanka Trump and how I was impressed by her for all the same reasons other people were impressed by her.
In the last couple of weeks, it has been hard for me look at her in the same way since she started defending her father’s actions and comments towards women. Again, I don’t care if you support Secretary of State Clinton or not, but as a woman who like many women have been sexually harassed, sexually assaulted (I was 12), flashed (I have lost track on that one) and just been treated not so nice by men, it’s hard for me to continue to admire Ivanka Trump for her public and vocal defense of her father’s action.
So from this day forward, I am going to just have to say I interviewed when I was just starting out blogging and end the conversation.
And that is all I will say on the topic of politics.

I received an Ivanka Trump purse as a gift. I feel the same way about it as you state in your post.
I kinda liked it at first. The purse was just OK. Not a knock your socks off WOW purse but rather utilitarian dressed up in a fancy box. Now I look at the purse as offensive and degraded. It’s a very disappointing purse today.
I would give it away but no one wants it. Today the name Trump is worthless and a negative.

Thanks for your comment. I think you are not alone as I recently read that women are boycotting stores where her products are sold.
