Lin – Manuel Miranda Lit up Social Media During The Festival People en Español Event #Moana

October 16, 2016 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Entertainment, Movies

Lin – Manuel Miranda without a doubt has the hottest show Broadway so I was thrilled to see him speak at the Festival People en Español at the Javits Center. His passion and excitement just shows through when he speaks about Hamilton,  his love of the arts, his family and his upcoming work on Disney’s Mary Poppins.

But I bet you didn’t know that the Tony Winner along with Grammy®-winning composer Mark Mancina (“Speed,” “Tarzan” “The Lion King”) and Opetaia Foa’i (founder and lead singer of the world music award-winning band Te Vaka) are  music supervisors on Disney’s Moana,  a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people.

Here are some choice tweets from the  Q&A session.

“If you love it, you’ll find room for it.” @Lin_Manuel talking about how to do what you love while paying the rent. #Moana #festivalpeople

During the event, I also had the opportunity to get a sneak peak of the movie with  an introduction by one of the movie’s illustrators, Jorge E. Ruiz Cano.  While the screening really got me excited to see the entire movie, what made Cano’s introduction so special that his talking about how he came to be a Disney illustrator something he wanted to do from a very young age and how he is how thrilled he is to be working Directors Ron Clements and John Musker. Clements and Musker are have written and directed some of Disney’s most beloved animated classics, including the undersea adventure “The Little Mermaid” in 1989, the hilarious hit “Aladdin” in 1992, 1997’s epic comedy “Hercules” and, most recently, 2009’s “The Princess and the Frog. Cool, right!

@etopepetrueno great to meet you at the #Moana talk at #FestivalPeople! We are so excited for @moanadisneymovie to open Thanksgiving
