Tips for Allergy Relief
As temperatures rise, the wrath of this year’s rough winter is far from over which means I am looking for allergy relief. Like so many others, I suffer from seasonal allergies so much so that I am doing more to stem the tide of the impacts of all the pollen in the air. I have a few tips to help with those pesky allergies.
6 Tips for Allergy Relief
1. Avoid rubbing your eyes which can worsen the allergic reaction, instead, gently wash around the eye area, to remove any allergens that have settled in or around eyes.
2. Stay indoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when pollen counts are generally higher. Try to schedule errands and your workout for later in the day on high-pollen days, to reduce the risk of having an allergic reaction.
3. Wipe down pets that come in from outdoors with a damp towel. This will remove any pollen they bring in from the outdoors that are on their feet and fur.
4. Keep windows and doors closed to reduce the flow of pollen into your home. Always remember to take off your shoes before coming inside. Besides tracking pollen in from the outdoors, this will help keep your home clean, as well.
5. Use eye drops for red, itchy, watery eyes and puffy eyelids caused by indoor and outdoor allergens, helping eyes get back to normal fast. VISINE®-A® is one option for eye drops that offer clinically proven relief for your itchy eyes.
6. Wash your hair, duvet, pillowcases and clothes more often to get rid of pollen. A minimum of once per week for the pillowcases and more if possible.

All great tips! The toughest one for me, though, is not rubbing my eyes. That’s my worst allergy symptomn this time of year, those endliessly itchy eyes. I’ve never tried VISINE-A, but I think I’m off to CVS today to pick one up!

My family has very bad allergies. The spring is the worst for us too. I definitely try to wash a lot of bedding and everyone leaves their shoes at the door. I do not open windows either.

Great tips. I hadn’t thought of washing bedding more. I’ve never heard of the indoor between 10 am and 4 pm one before but it makes sense. I live surrounded by a National Forest in North Alabama and we currently have yellow pollen everywhere outside. Our barn roof is even yellow.
